Steam Flow Control Valve

Steam Flow Control Valve

In Industry steam flow needs to be controlled. To control the steam maintenance people use Steam Flow Control Valve. These valve controls the flow of the steam on demand basis in the machine/Process. Controlling of this valves are done normally electrically or pneumatically. Positioner/ Actuator are used for control the flow. The positioner/Actuator are fitted with the valves. Generally for flow control glove valve is used. The actuator respond to the signal by temperature gauges or flow meters. These Steam flow control valves are also named as Automatic Control valve as it is operated through electrically/Pneumatically. Food Processing plant, Dairy foods, refineries, chemical plants, Tobacco Green leaf processing plant are the users of steam flow control valve.
Some Typical application of Steam flow control valve are as follows:
> Fluid Heat Exchangers
> Sterilizer
> Humidifier
> Steam fired Absorption Chiller
> CIP (Cleaning In Place)
There are some good companies who have manufacturing steam flow control valve such as Honeywell, SpiraxSarco, Siemens, Coulton, Flow stream, ARI valves, steriflow, Flow serve corporation,  etc

Difference between Gate valve and Globe Valve

Difference between Gate valve and Globe Valve

SL No.
Globe Valve
Gate Valve
1.
Divert the flow at right angles through a circular opening and flow is controlled by a circular disc which moves towards and ultimately seats on the beveled edges of the circular opening.
Gate valve has a wedge of material which cuts across the flow area and seats around the circumference of the pipe.
2.
It can be used for wide open, fully closed, or with the disc in an intermediate position for regulating the flow.
It is used for wide open or fully closed, and not for intermediate flow regulation.
3.
Used for flow controlling
For using dividing or for long time closed position it is used.

Difference between Foot Valve and Check Valve

Difference between Foot Valve and Check Valve

A foot valve is used to maintain a nearly full suction pipe for a pump to enable the pump to lift the liquid into the pump suction. It decreases the priming loss of pump. The foot valve is used in the suction of pump in downward direction. It is used to suck the fluid from sump. In sump fluid the foot valve is installed. It works mainly on gravitational effects fitted at bottom of the suction pipe of the pump. The flow velocity to keep a foot valve open is lower than the velocity required keeping a swing or lifting check valve open. The differential pressure across the foot valve is small.

Check valve works on difference of pressure in inlet and outlet of the valve. Check valve can be fitted anywhere in the pipe line.
